New lab publication on exergames and older adults (October 2021)
Our paper, "Feasibility and enjoyment of exercise video games in older adults", was just published in Frontiers in Public Health's special issue, "Technological innovations to address social isolation and loneliness in older adults". The paper presents the results of a pilot study conducted at the lab at Penn State in 2019, which explored 20 older adults' experiences playing an exercise video game, or exergame, on the Xbox Kinect. The paper presents both qualitative and quantitative data, including participants' enjoyment of the games, motivation to do well, likelihood of playing the games in the future, and whether they think playing with a partner would make game play more enjoyable.
